Atlanta DJ John Mellier

Last Saturday (January 14, 2006) we hosted special guest DJ John Millier from Atlanta. John is a resident DJ at The Heretic in Atlanta. We have not hosted any guest DJ's for several months because we have not done will with our last few guest DJ bookings. We made a decision to focus on our own talented DJ's. We made an exception with John because we received an offer that was hard to turn down...John was in town working with the ice skating championship at Savis Center...booking him required no air fare or hotel expenses...he and I have a mutual friend and he was eager to play in St. Louis so he offered to work for well below what a DJ of his talent would ask for...when we heard his CD's and his mixes on his website, we were sold...so we booked him, posted it on our website (www.FacesNoLimits.com), posted it on Gay.com, and ran an ad in the last issue of EXP Magazine. The result, John was a great DJ...he kept the crowd on the dance floor from 3 AM until 6 AM...the crowd that we had loved him and thanked me for booking him...DJ Josh Waters did a great job opening for John too...Unfortunately, the crowd was small...so small that we in fact lost money on a night that cost us very little....we offered a $5 cover until 2 AM...the same cover that The Complex and Novak's was charging...we had a coupon on Gay.com good for bringing a friend for free when you paid the cover...but many (actually most) of our regulars stayed home. When we ask for your help in spreading the word about events, we really do need your help. We can spend money on ads but the real way to get people to include us in their plans is for you...and your friends to tell your friends about what a great time you had...and tell your friends where you will be....help us make the party...No bar can afford to lose money on every event...and frankly it is unlikely that we will ever host a guest DJ again...the market has spoken and St. Louis is unwilling to support them....we know that many people are running a little short on money after the holidays....and we expect to see a drop in business in January...it happens every year....but we really could have used your help the last two Saturdays.
